Evelyn is a long-time advocate for children and a licensed Oregon teacher with 26 years working with kids. As a former public-school teacher, she understands that learning has to be tailored to each child. She's an accomplished artist and crafts person who uses many mediums both in her own work and as a way to reach and encourage kids to explore their creative expression.

Julie is an experienced educator with 36 years in the field, including 27 years as a Reading Specialist. She's trained in dyslexia remediation, licensed to teach in Oregon, and has dedicated her career to helping students build strong literacy skills and confidence as readers. Her philosophy: build a strong foundation for lifelong reading success.

Patty lives in Brightwood with her husband Kevin and daughter Elliott. She's been an Oregon educator for 20 years with a deep passion for teaching math, and a graduate of Portland State University with a B.S. She makes tricky numbers click for students who've given up on math.

Morgan Maul

Sandy local · Bachelor's in Elementary Education

Morgan is a Sandy local who grew up at Naas Elementary, Boring Middle, and Sandy High School. She holds three associate degrees from Mt. Hood Community College and a Bachelor's in Elementary Education from Western Oregon University, with a year at Walt Disney World in the Disney College Program. She's currently substituting area-wide and working toward a full-time elementary teaching position.

Erin Karl

Summa Cum Laude 2025 · Elementary Education

Erin grew up in Boring and graduated Sandy High School in 2017. She earned her associate degree at MHCC, transferred to Eastern Oregon University for Elementary Education, completed student teaching at Sandy Grade School, and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2025. She's passionate about helping students become confident, independent problem-solvers — and she loves games in all forms.

Amico & Bene

Official Greeter

A good friend, a 42-lb greeter in training

Amico ("friend" in Italian) is our official greeter. "Mico" has had 18 weeks of training through Pet Smart in Gresham. He's not a certified therapy dog, but he finds his way to everyone to give a little love as they enter the center. He's been working here for over two years, loves kids, and will happily sit and shake a paw for a treat. Mico lives in Gresham with his sister Bene ("good" in Italian).
